Warner, Lee

In Latin: Here lies Lee Warner, Esquire; the eldest son of John Warner, lately Archdeacon of Rochester; and likewise great-nephew, through his sister’s son, of John Warner, not long ago Bishop of Rochester. Most closely united to both of them in character as well as by natural kinship— and this even his own detractors will acknowledge— he was a liberal and constant benefactor of that most renowned refuge for widows (of the clergy, that is); Here likewise, while he lived, he proved himself [probus] and a provident supporter. He married Catherine, daughter of Henry Hampson. He died on the 4th day of March in the year 1698, at the age of 45.
