Sacred to the memory of Isabella Maria Barbara Read, Who died in Torquay after a brief but severe illness, October 9th 1824 in the 15th year of her age. Richly gifted with mental and personal attractions, She was pious, humble, gentle and disinterested, The only daughter, the very joy of her parents' hearts, She repaid their love with the tenderest affection. Deeply afflicted, but not without hope, they resigned this dearest blessing into the hands of a merciful Creator, knowing that He can restore her in glory, and joy unspeakable. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also that sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.
