Under this stone lies deposited the remains of ABRAHAM CLERKE BL, whose tender and benevolent Disposition, directed by an excellent Understanding and Judgement, was constantly exerted to promote the Happiness not only of his private Relations and Acquaintances but of all Mankind. His Chearfulness & good Nature [...], His Learning and Knowledge, Instruction, His Integrity in the exercise of his Profession was equal to his Ability, by which he justly acquired the Reputation of an honest and judicious Lawyer. His Religious Principles were consistent and rational, the Result of an unprejudiced Examination of the Scriptures, by which he was influenced in all his Actions, and remains a worthy [...] of ye Excellency of that Religion, from whose motives he both lived and died, A Virtuous and Good Man, who died ye 11 of Dec. 1717 in the 50 Year of his Age.
