John Chamber, Esquire,
A man of integrity, learned and expert in law,
who performed the functions of Town Steward
in the city of Norwich;
and also at Southwold in the county of Suffolk, and Yarmouth;
and of the Dean and Chapter of Norwich, Steward of the Courts.
He died on the 15th of June, A.D. 1788, aged 69.
Benign, of probity, courteous, hospitable,
if you ask his companions, reader, they'll tell of the sweetness of his manners, if his friends, the closest duties of affection.
He, living, conciliated goodwill;
Dead, he left behind regret.
Out of love, his grieving wife placed this monument
to her most beloved husband.
