To the Memory of George Catanach Esqr, Who was a Gentleman in his Mind as well as Manners, Whose Native worth the World could not corrupt, Whose Manly Spirit Pain could not Subdue, whose Friendship was so sincere as to render Protestation needless, And whose Conduct so clear as Generally to Escape Suspicion, who Happy in Himself & a few Connexions of his Heart, Retired Early into a Private Life, And who having the Wisdom to know When he had Enough, Was also Endowed with the Virtue to Enjoy it. He died 1st Dec 1764 aged 66.
