Here lieth the body of Mr Edward/Carleton who left this life in the/true Faith of Christ by whose Example/he piously forgave his enemies, he was/Generous, Brave, Just and Charitable/Willing to assist all in Distress, Ever/true to his friend & promise tho to/the Hazard of his life he liv'd belov'd/[and died lamented the 3rd Day of] August, 1704. [Aged 33 Years.
