Northmore, Thomas

In Latin: Here lies the body of Thomas Northmore, Esquire, son of John Northmore (of Well in the parish of South Tawton in this county, a gentleman ever faithful), a counsellor at law and lately an ornament of the British senate; who took three wives, namely Lady Pridham, Lady Andrews, and Lady St Aubyn; by the first he had two daughters, of whom one died young,
the other, surviving, set up this mausoleum as a pledge of gratitude and duty
to her most beloved father, who died on the 25th day of July
in the year of our Lord 1713.
Behold an old statesman, faithful to the Church, his country, and the Crown, who never sold his vote, nor conducted himself dishonourably; we hope that he has passed to a more august and happier senate, where God himself (with the inhabitants of heaven applauding) holds the sceptre in his almighty hand.
