Richardson, John

In Latin: Here lies John Richardson, MA, originally from Bradford in this county, and a student at Christ's College Cambridge, for several years domestic chaplain to John Sharp, Archbishop of York, appointed at the same time to the Rectory of Beeford and the Prebend of Wistow, which dignity in the church he afterwards exchanged for greater ones, being transported to the more important stalls of Precentor and Archdeacon of Cleveland, at length being adopted among the number of Canons Residentiary. He was a peaceable, modest and simple man. In these characters few could be compared to him, in other things he was not exceeded by the most upright [probis] and pious men. His very sweet nature and wholly ingenuous character rendered him no less dear to his friends and acquaintances in his lifetime than regretted by them at his death on 28th October 1735, aged 60.
