Bromsall, Thomas

In Latin: Here lies Thomas Bromsall,
A soldier.
Although a most strenuous defender
of laws and rights,
he was nevertheless of such sweet manners
that he had almost as many friends as he had acquaintances.
A most excellent woman, taken as his wife in second marriage,
thought herself the very picture of happiness.
But suddenly, after three months of marriage,
he was taken away by an illness of scarcely three days.
How brief are the joys of human life—
he became a great reminder of this.
His most sorrowful widow ordered this stone to be set up,
in his memory indeed,
but also for herself, when it shall please God
that she cease to draw her weary breath,
as a chosen resting place
to share his ashes.
