Here are laid the remains of
John Law, S.T.P. (Doctor of Sacred Theology),
Archdeacon of this diocese for nearly 60 years,
and for more than 40 years Vicar of the Church of Chatham.
He adorned the office of a Christian priest
with such learning, humanity, and mores,
and bound all good people to himself
with such great benevolence,
that no one loved him more while he lived,
nor mourns him with greater longing now that he is dead.
He died in the year of our salvation 1838,
at the age of 88.
