Franklin, William

In Latin: WILLIAM FRANKLIN
Knight of the Golden Order
Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians at Edinburgh
and also of Surgeons
M.D., F.R.S., K.C.H.,
Chief Inspector of the Medical Department of the British Army.
This likeness is sacred to his memory.
He indeed spent his life in various parts of the world
in service to the King and to his country.
As a doctor among soldiers, he was as ready in the clash of war as he was skilled in the infirmary.
After carrying out other duties at home and abroad,
he obtained second place in the Army Medical Board,
from which position he produced for his friends and companions
as much good as he brought honour to himself
and benefit to his country.
Of integrity, of an easy and urbane spirit,
a lover of truth and of justice,
he won for himself many friends,
who with one mind, in mourning,
placed this marble.
