Barrell, Francis

In Latin: Here rests
Francis Barrell,
the only son
of Francis Barrell of the County of Kent, Esquire,
and of Frances, daughter of William Hanbury,
Esquire, of the County of Hereford;
on both sides most honorably born.
A youth of the highest promise;
Plainly modest and frugal.
Benevolent to his relatives;
Devout toward his parents and toward God.
But how brief are human delights.
After he had borne the most acute pains
of the body with serenity and patience,
At length, gradually worn down by illness,
To the great grief of his friends
and the deep sorrow of his parents,
he died before his time
on the 10th of February, in the year 1755,
in the 17th year of his age.
