Moore, Thomas

In Latin: Sacred to the memory of Thomas Moore, S. T. P., a man, if ever there was one, worthy of remembrance, distinguished like many others for the gifts of his intellect and the delight he brought to his acquaintances; yet, above all, because he showed himself a true Christian and a shining example of virtuous conduct. But among his other virtues, he held in highest regard that which, as the word of God teaches, encompasses all the rest: a spirit munificent to the poor, useful to friends, and benevolent to all. He departed from life aged 63 on July 25 1779.
