Lloyd, Philip

In Latin: Sacred to the memory of Philip Lloyd, S. T. P., who, as dean of this church for 25 years, gave continuous strenuous effort to managing its affairs and other pastoral cares. He sustained a constant dignity of life, with pure and simple piety, and no less elegance of manners. Instructed in every branch of liberal learning, he especially pursued the study of theology; and though endowed by nature with a mind suited to the highest responsibilities, he did not desire higher things; being content to adorn the part he had received as best he could. He died on 31 May, 1790 AD, in the sixty-third year of his age. This stone to the best of men was placed by his most loving wife.
