First educated at Winchester School, then
At Pembroke College,
Among the scholars of Oxford,
He was thoroughly imbued with good learning.
In this city of Norwich, he practiced medicine
With excellent skill and happy success.
By his writings, titledĀ Religio Medici,
AndĀ Pseudodoxia Epidemica, and others,
He became most widely known throughout the world.
A man most pious, of greatest integrity, most learned.
He died October 19, 1682.
His most sorrowful wife,
Lady Dorothy Browne, piously placed [this memorial].
