Crabb, John

Here lies the Reverend John Crabb, Master of Arts, formerly Fellow of Exeter College, Oxford; Sub-Librarian of the Bodleian Library, and formerly chaplain to Bishop Fowler; resident Minister of this parish for more than thirty-eight years. A learned, pious, generous man, orthodox in the Church, faithful in the commonwealth, and liberal towards all. Author of the Georgics and of other celebrated poems in Latin and English. At length he died on the 13th day before the Ides of March, in the eighty-fifth year of his age, in the Christian era 1748
